Duncan Banks A Huge Common

Tuesday 19th July 2016, 11:07AM Feature

I arrived on Friday after work to find the lake busy. I really couldn’t decide where to fish and after 2 laps of the lake laden with gear, finally settled on a swim. It was very weedy but I found a couple of clean gravel areas in shallow water and fished one rod on S-Core bottom bait with a small PVA bag of matching pellets, and one on a pop up. I baited with 4 or 5 spombs of mixed 14mm and 18mm baits with the S-Core pellets added.

Friday night I had the best fish of the trip at 37lb 12oz on the pop up rod. Then on Saturday afternoon I landed a 23lb 12oz Common with a huge tail that fought like its life depended on it. This was followed by a smaller mid-double common a couple of hours later. Saturday evening just on dark the action kicked off and I landed a 20lb 4oz Mirror, a 23lb 4oz Common and a 23lb 12oz Mirror in a 2-hour period.
